Exodus 3:14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.'”

Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

“I AM WHO I AM”? This is confusing. “Who is and who was and who is to come” now this is more confusing.

So who is God really? Who is God to you?

It is through the word of God that you will know Him. The very knowledge of who is God and who is God to you has been hidden in His word. God reveals himself to us through his living word: The bible. In this article we try to expand on who God is.

Creator of all Things

One simple definition of who God is, is that He is the creator of all things, both living and non-living. He is the creator of everything visible and invisible and more so He is your Creator. Yes, you we created by Him, The Most High. But this isn’t all. He is a lot more than just a creator. So who is God, really? Who is God to You? Here are some of the things you should know about the living God.

He is Love

Knowing who God is isn’t as easy as that. It all begins with His word. It takes hard work, courage, and perseverance, yet it may also require one simple value; LOVE. The bible says in 1 John 4:8 “Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is Love”. To know God is to love Him and to get to love him you will need to know Him because He Himself is Love.

He is a Loving and forgiving Father

God is our heavenly Father and we are His children. His love is so great that He can’t abandon you no matter what the situation is. Due to His great love, He will always forgive. Right from the beginning when Adam and Eve sinned against Him, He has always found a way of taking us back to him. He sent Moses to Egypt to liberate His Children Israel from captivity even with all the sins they had committed. We the human kind sinned again and the loving father sent us his only begotten son, our Lord Jesus Christ to the world, who eventually did in order to liberate us from our sins. That shows how loving and forgiving the lord God is. As a Father, He expects respect and obedience from his children.

He delights in justice and Righteousness

God warns the wise, the strong and the rich against boasting of their wisdom, strength and riches respectively; that they should instead boast that they understand and know Him, that He is the Lord who exercises kindness, justice, and righteousness. Even though the Lord takes equity and justice as very important, he is always gracious and merciful.

There are a lot more attributes about God that will help answer this question “Who is God, really? Who is God to you?” The list is long. You can never exhaust them.

To know God better you need to love him. By loving him will you be able to know him. You will obey him, serve him, praise him, and pray to Him all the times of your life because God is the source of everything including life itself.
